With lithium batteries now popular for over a decade, more and more battery powered strapping tools are becoming available.

Here at Melbourne Packaging Supplies, we’ve got a huge range of battery powered packaging tools. In this article we’re going to go over some of the newest battery powered tools, as well as our high quality favourite current generation battery powered tools that are available now.

The Most Popular Battery Powered Packaging Tools

Our most popular battery powered strapping tools are the XST-260 and XST-450. Designed for use with PET strapping and PP strapping. These Swiss-made 4th generation tools are the market leaders for a reason – their design, innovation and performance is unmatched.

The tools tension strapping quickly and weld the strapping by friction. PET and PP strapping are the most cost-effective strapping as they have significant strength and being able to use a battery powered strapping tool, like XST-260 or XST-450, makes applying the strapping faster too.

We recommend the XST-260 and XST450 strapping tools for any serious user who wants the best tool with a long life expectancy and low maintenance costs due to its reliability.

One part that makes the XST-260 and XST-450 the market leading tool is the high-performance Maxtor DC motor which controls tension and welding. The motor is unmatched in reliability on the market.

As distributors and repairers of battery powered strapping tools, we’ve seen countless brands and none of them come close to the XST-260 and XST-450.

New battery powered sealless strapping tool

We haven’t seen much development in steel strapping tools for a while. This is probably because steel strapping has largely been replaced by PET strapping in mostt sites given how much cheaper it is.

However, there are some people out there who still prefer to use steel strapping and the new Signode BST is here to make life easier. Developed by Orgapack, a Signode subsidiary, the BST is now Signode’s flagship battery powered sealless tool.

It supersedes the USA-made SLB sealless tool, however, its cost may be a limiting factor to many users though so if you still need steel but want a cost-effective option for strapping quickly and effectively we would recommend our MUL20 sealless tool.

The Signode BPT-L19 battery strapping tool

batery powered steel strapping tool

This is probably the most exciting tool to come out recently. Because plastic strapping cannot replace steel strapping for round or small packs, steel strapping is still highly popular in the engineering, coil and tubing industries. This makes this tool so exciting. Previously your options to tension small packs have been limited to ZR seals, but this leads to most larger customers using pneumatic tools. Pneumatic tools are cumbersome because they use air lines and this requires a decent amount of maintenance.

The BPT-19 battery powered pusher tensioner isn’t too much more than a pneumatic tensioner of equivalent tension capabilities but it is so much easier to transport. I just unboxed a new one the other day with a customer for training, the tool is so smooth and easy to use.

The Signode BPT-H32 strapping tool

The big daddy to the BLT-L19 – the BPT-H32 is here and now has the option available to use 19mm and 32mm strapping.

The Bosch pro core powered tool can replace Pneumatic combo tensioners used in the steel coil industry or timber industry.

The BPT-H32 is balanced better than pneumatic tools of similar tension and offers a massive 7500N of tensioning force. The tool is replacing pneumatic tools at major sites around the country.

The AR32 tensioner and the DAZ

AR32

The AR32 and the DAZ are 2 of the latest battery powered tools to come out of TITAN Germany.

The 2 piece tools are designed for use with higher grades of steel strapping. The AR32 tension can be used with 19, 25mm and 32mm strapping with any manual, pneumatic or battery powered sealer. While the DAZ sealer is only available for use on 32mm strapping with 5436p seals.

DAZ

The tools have come out just in time too with Signode USA struggling with supply of the Grip pack tensioner and sealer combo.

The AR32 and DAZ are much more competitively priced than the Grip pack tools and are available now. The DAZ and AR32 are powered by Makita Li-ion batteries.
