Black Photo Eye sensor – Option

The Melbpack XF-Series comes with a standard infra red sensor for pallet height detection on our stretch wrapping machines. However the standard sensor wont work for all products being wrapped as it cant see dark or shinny product.

If you’re wrapping:

  • Dark black boxes
  • Black laminated boxes which are very shinny
  • Reflective black products like 44 gallon drums
  • Black products which absorb light light plastics pots etc

Then the standard sensor may have issues.

However we can upgrade this sensor to a black photo eye sensor which wont have issues.

Black photo eye sensors are available on:

Eva
Synthesi
Synthex
Mytho
Mytho Auto

Why would I want a Black photo eye sensor
To wrap black or dark products

Im using black stretchwrap, do i need this?
No you will not, the sensor is positioned above the stretchwrap so it sees your goods not the plastic wrap. However if you plan to wrap pallets that are previously already wrapped in black then you may need this upgrade.

Is there a lead time on this?
No this can quickly be done onsite by us or before the machine is sent to you.

Is there an extra charge for this?
Unfortunately yes, the sensors are much more expensive than the standard infra red sensors so we do need to charge more for it.

Can you do this after the machine is supplied so i can see if the standard sensor works?
Yes of course, we would even do this for you for no extra labour charge and for the sensor difference in cost not the full cost of the sensor.

If i only wrap black sometimes is this needed?
Possibly not, the machines can be ran in manual mode and some with a preset altimeter setting which disable the standard sensor anyway.
